1. Use a visual source, e.g. pictures, posters, or video to focus pupils' attention on mammals. Ask pupils to identify similarities from observation. e.g. skin has a covering of hair. Mammals have four limbs. Invite pupils to list animals which meet this description. Point out that humans are mammals also.

2. Elicit the fact that all birs have common features. Use different resources to allow pupils to observe birds. On completion, ask pupils to comment on similarities and differences in terms of appearance.

3. Tell children that they are going to watch a PowerPoint presentation about mammals and birds.

4. Children complete worksheet 3 in which they have to:

- Fill in the blanks with suitable words.

- Find out two spare words.

- Classify two different types of animals.

- Solve two riddles.

5. Tell pupils that they are going to play a game about Mammals and Fish. (Game 3)
