1. Learn that the plant kingdom is divided into flowering and non-flowering plants.

2. Learn about flowering plants: they have roots, stems and leaves and produce flowers and seeds.

3. Learn that Non-flowering plants do not produce seeds.

Children will be able to:

1. Observe plants in the classroom and local environment. Elicit through discussion and observation that flowering plants have roots, stem and leaves and produce flowers and seeds. Use a PowerPoint presentation, posters, classroom display and reference books to assist pupils with naming flowering and non-flowering plants.

2. Tell pupils that they are going to watch a PowerPoint presentation about plants.

- Fill in the gaps.

- Make a simple labelled diagram of a plant, showing the different parts.
