1. Learn that plant roots hold the plants in the ground and take up water from the soil.

 



Children will be able to:

1. Memorise key vocabulary.

1. Elicit through discussion what the roots do for the plant. Set up the first experiment in which pupils will find out how plants use water. (This can also be done with a whole plant e.g. mung bean plant to demonstrate involvement of the root in this take up.)

2. Tell pupils that they are going to complete worksheet 9.
