1. Learn about the planets of the Solar System.

3. Represent a Solar System.

1. In groups, pupils carry out research task on the planets. Pupils could include a description of the planet, the origin of its name, its diameter, surface, temperature, average distance from the sun, time taken to orbit the sun and the number of moons.

2. Pupils organise and illustrate a written report and give an oral account to the rest of the class. A database could be produced, containg all information of the planets. Pupils contribute information for classroom display and make a Solar System mobile. Pupils complete worksheet 33.

3. Make a model of the Solar System.

- Pupils use a football for the Sun and small balls for the planets.

- Each pupil chooses which planet he/she wants to carry.
