My name's Anna
I'm a student of CEIP Enric Grau Fontseré School from Flix. I'm eleven years old.
I'm going to talk about my favourite festival "Easter"
Well, Easter is a very important Christian festivity. People celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his death.
But for me also represents holiday, long days and delicious "mona" (a "mona" is an easter cake, usually with a chocolate figure on it).
Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first moon in March or April, so every year is quite different.
In Britain it's usual to send Easter cards to friends and relatives.
Here, in Flix and in Catalonia we don't send cards.
Before Easter British children paint eggs with bright colours. The decoration of Easter eggs began in England during the Middle Ages.
On Easter Day British boys and girls go on a traditional Easter egg hunt. Parents tell their children that Easter Bunny have hidden some eggs in the garden. The children must find the hidden eggs. And then they eat the chocolate eggs together.
It's also usual to go on an outing to spend the day together.

But in Flix, during the Easter holidays (the holly week) we have some religious parades with roman soldiers named: "armats".

It's surprising to see our streets full of roman soldiers with their spears and shields.
They wear beautiful helmets and red cloaks.
We also have a group of men who sing traditional songs on holly Friday named "caramelles". They go around the town and they sing and stop in some places and streets. People offer them some drinks and some traditional biscuits.
At Easter time you can see all the cake shops full of delicious "monas" and all kind of chocolate figures: eggs, bunnies, hens, chickens, houses and even some political or popular characters.
On Sunday I get up early in the morning, I get dressed - usually I wear some new clothes - and I go to my godfather to pick up my "mona". The "mona".
But my favourite day is on Monday because we go to our hermitage. The hermitage is named "Remei". All the people from Flix go to the hermitage, to celebrate that festivity and we spend all the day there.
Some people, especially teenagers go to the hermitage the night before.
In the morning we start with a good breakfast, is very typical to eat "clotxa", the clotxa is half a bread with roast tomatoes, onions, garlic and sausages.
After breakfast we celebrate the mass. Some people don't go to the mass, but it doesn't matter because we can make a lot of activities there.
After the mass we dance our typical dance "la sardana" and in the afternoon we dance another typical dance from Flix "jotes".
We also play with our friends and we spend a fantastic day together.
The typical meal on that day is paella or roast meat and the mona for pudding.
At the end of the day we are exhausted but happy to have had a wonderful day.
Well, that's all about Easter.
I only want to finish wishing you a very happy Easter!!
And be careful with the "mona". It can be dangerous to eat too much!!
