Children learn to make a cube or pyramid
Children learn how geometrical forms appear in daily reality (e.g. buildings)
Materials:
Pictures of buildings: houses and pyramids
Pictures of landscapes from bird’s-eye view
An example of a map of a pyramid and of a house (cube)
Draft paper

Colored paper or cardboard
Introduction:
The teacher reminds the children of the former lesson. He or she introduces
the map of a pyramid and one of a cube and explains the purpose of this
lesson: The children will make their own Egyptian landscape with houses,
pyramids and the Nile.
Main part:
Children design maps for pyramids and cubes. The cubes are transformed
into Egyptian houses. If they are finished they paint the Nile from a
bird’s-eye view.
Conclusion:
With the houses, pyramids and the paintings of the Nile an exposition
is made which is shown to the other children of the school. The children
explain to them which geometrical forms were used to make this Egyptian
landscape.
