The school El Puig is a cooperative of parents founded in 1970 with the aim of offering quality teaching. From the very beginning it has defined itself as being Catalan, pluralistic and lay, and independent from any political or religious organization.

The pupils of the classes Arc de Sant Martí (Rainbow), Sol (Sun), Dimoni (Devil), Gegant (Giant), Bruixot (Wizard) and Vampir (Vampire) have been awarded the Barcanova prize for child creativity for their illustrations of de collected poemes Filastrofes by Gianni Rodari. The prize consists of the publication of the afore mentioned illustrations.

Our teaching model is considered to be, from the pedagogical point of view, as innovative and with its own idionsyncrasy, based on a teaching line which provides with a cohesive type of education of our students from the age of two, within a frame of respect towards themselves, towards the others, and love for taking pride in whatever they do.

Our main goal is that children feel motivated to develop all their personal, social and intellectual skills, that they acquire autonomy, method and critical view at the same time that their knowledge, and experiences gradually form a cultural base which is indispensable to develop in nowadays society.

The experience accumulated throughout the last 25 years makes "El Puig" a school engaged in a full expansion process, which allow us to confront the challenge posed by the Educational Reform. As a result of that, we offer the three different levels of compulsory education in Spain:

• Nursery school, from 2 to 6 years.
• Primary school: from 6 to 12.
• Obligatory Secondary Education: from 12 to 16.

We are confident that the coherence of a single pedagogical model up to the age of 16 will ensure the humanistic and intellectual education of our students.

The schools's goal is to provide students with a framework of instrumental learning to develop all their social and research skills.

One of the main goals of the schools is to foster students' love for reading, to make readers who are able of reading by themselves, for the sake of reading, to fulfill a personal need for information or to put their imagination in play.

Within the framework of the environment, experimental activities play a key role. They enable to understand concepts dealt with in the classroom, and to acquire different scientific processes: observation, checking and discovery of certain facts and phenomena.

Experimenting with new technologies allows to open the school to the outside world, and offers students the possibility of exploring both their creative and expressive ideas.

Physical education is aimed mainly at prompting the students' knowledge of their own body and to command their own movements.

From the pedagogical point of view, the school offers the following services:

• Look at the last issue of our magazine L'oreneta informa.

  English, Arts, Music, PE specialist, each of them with their own classroom.
• Class, cycle and general libraries.
• A computer room and computers in the Nursery and Primary education classes.
• Natural Science lab.
• Foreign language: from the age of 4.
• Camp sites: all classes from the age of three. The last course of Secondary Education takes part in an exchange with a foreign school.
• Cultural outings: we organize visits to museums, conferences, exhibitions, we go to the theatre, concerts, etc. because they all make up our cultural heritage.

We also offer the following services:

• Dining room: with its own kitchen.
• Swimming.
• Extra curricular activities (dancing, sports).
• Baby sitting service.
• Summer camps.
