MEETING IN BARCELONA

6-10thOctober 2008

During the Major Feast week our school lived a double feast; It was a great pleausure for us to host twenty people from different countries who join the Comenius project: five teachers from Turkey, four from Latvia, four from Romania, three from Sweden, three from Finland and also three students who came from Turkey too. The whole week through, our partners and us took part in different activities in order to prepare the feast, and all together exchanged a lot of literary, linguistic, artistic and musical experiences.

Last year we made a virtual trip to the different countries through our senses. This year, though, representatives from the joining countries have travelled to the classrooms, where some students couldn’t wait to present them with a song in their own languages. Once listened and applauded with enthusiasm, the teachers prepared their own voices to tell the children stories from their lands in original version, which will be worked in class later on (In catalan or English). Then, all together, we danced the dances that they had previously prepared for us. They also danced the Patatuf and a Sardana that we taught them.

The latvian teachers prepared an art session for our Pirates ...

The european teachers acted as postmen and women by bringing the letters that their students had written to ours. We are already preparing the answers!

Ah! In the dining room we have the traveller exhibition with a selection of drawings inspired by the traditional music from each country. Very soon the drawings will fly to Lulea.
We have also an exhibition with pictures from Comenius Meeting in Barcelona.

The best of this experience was the feeling, shared by eveone of us, that we are all joining a team, or better, many teams at the same time: the children’s one, the Orlandai teachers’s, the Comenius teachers’s, the secrtariat’s, the dining room staff’s, the afternoon monitor’s, the parents’s …. Everybody in their own way, has add their effort to make this profitable meeting possible. To everybody :
