Three teachers from Orandai went there: Carme Branchadell, Gemma and Ariadna.

We got there at the weekend before the meeting and were able to visit Bucarest, the capital city. Then, we headed to Petrosani, 400 kilometers far from the capital, where the Avram Stanca school is placed.

We were very gently wellcome and the teachers made us feel as if we were at home. On Monday we celebrated a National Education Symposium, where we made a speech about Carnival at Orlandai. We were received in the city council by some of its members, some teachers and parents from the Avram Stanca school.The students performed some traditional dances and sang songs from the different participating countries. Later on, once the activity came to and end, we went back to school where other speeches were made. In the evening and so charmly as ever, we were presented with a theater entertainment, played by the students, and with a collection of various traditional dishes from the Romanian gastronomy, along with music, dances and lots of kindness.

The following day we were informed about the educational school system and visited some classrooms. Romania has recently joined the European Union and they are very proud of it. In the school, three different educational systems coexist: the traditional one, the step by step system (students gathered in corners with different activities) and the Hungarian one (which takes care of an ethnic minority in Romania). It was a very gratifying experience and we went back home with a very nice memory of a country which has been long forgotten, but wants to be newly born; and we also returned full of kindness towards those people who so amiably and charmingly greeted us.
