The Garrirris was published for the first time in 1974, they are Fermin Piker and Julian the fishing dog, personages who live an endless number on adventures by beaches, the bars, clubs and celebrations of the city, and that can be interpreted like a series of picaresque histories of the daily life of Barcelona.
The 9 of May of 2005 were fulfilled the bicentennial of the death of the poet and dramatist Friedrich Schiller, great the classic one, along with Goethe, of the German letters. Of its vast poetic work oda has reached world-wide celebrity his To the joy (An die Freude), an extensive poem that it captivated to Beethoven and it induced to give him to musical form in the final movement of its famous Novena Symphony to him. Due to its deep sense humanist and his captivating musical force, the composition has been declared hymn of Europe. Also it has given foot to numerous musical versions, among them the rockera of Miguel Rivers, that so immense popularity reached between youth.The poem of Schiller, that so singular destiny has had, is an overflowing song to the joy and its miraculous influence on the human beings; a hymn to the brotherhood, to the love and the friendship, a song to the creation and the harmonic union of the man with the nature and the universe.
Javier Marshal (Valencia, 1950), the polyhedral artist, designer, sketcher, escultor, poster designer, painter and engraver, has added to the celebrations of the bicentennial of Schiller with the elaboration of these two new pieces Nocturnal festive (Oda to joy I) and the joy to live (Oda to joy II). The serigrafías show two different scenes to us, populated by an animated repertoire of human figures, botanical animals and, all of them characteristics in the creation of Marshal. In the joy to live, this close and playful fauna gives itself, visibly happy and in harmony with its surroundings, to celebrate the existence and to enjoy the luminous and radiating day that the destiny has given to him. Nocturnal festive the scene it is transformed into a Mediterranean celebration bathed by the light of the moon and flooded by the murmur of the sea and the lulling sound of saxofón. A vibrant of sensuality and said atmosphere.Few contemporary artists have contributed like Marshal to create a playful and festive image of Barcelona. Fascinated by the Barcelonian architecture and the legacy of Gaudí, Marshal has created the serigrafías Oda to the 150 Gaudí I and II to celebrate anniversary of the Catalan architect. On them they are based modern Barcelona with gaudinianos details, like ornamented grounds of the Stroll of Grace, the chimeas of the Stone quarry and the mosaics of Park Güell.
Cobi was the mascot of the Olympic games of Barcelona 92, which was chosen i designed by Xavier Marshal the 1989.
