Unlike all the painters of his period, Mir didn't go to Paris to complite his formation. It was only necessary for Mir to show his contemporaries work. He had enough motive for his work and he became autodidactic.

T the landscape is the most important and known painting of Mir. Along his life, he lived in several places of Catalonia, that inspired him to obtaing his landscapes, as well as the rich colours. He devoted special importance to the Mallorca'n landscape. Mir becames a key issue for the landscape tradition of the Catalan painting.
