The Catalan language could not be used in the theater. The public acts in Catalan were prohibited. It was difficult to interpret works of Catalan authors or certain works of foreign authors.

Puigserver found different groups the ADG and the EADAG that fought against cultural and linguistic represion and also to renovated the way to do theater.

At these time the stage scene was very classica, was dedicated in representing the space of the work. The sets were almost decorated paintings.
