In the beautiful city Verona, there are two families who hate each other, when Romeo, from the Montagues, and Juliet, from the Capulets, fall in love. It causes problems for everybody and everything goes wrong for them and they kill themselves rather than get married.
Most of the play takes place in 'fair Verona' an attractive little city in the north of Italy. The action moves quickly from the city streets to the hall of old Capulet's house, then to the orchard below Juliet's balcony, to Friar Lawrences' lonely cell and finally to the vault where the Capulets and the Montagues view their dead children.
The play starts on a Sunday morning in the middle of July; less than five days later -
just before dawn on the following Thursday - it is all over.

Shakespeare wrote "Romeo and Juliet" in the middle of the 1590s. Elizabeth the First was Queen of England. During her reign (from 1558 to 1603), the country had made great progress in many different areas. It was a great time for English culture and literature in particular.
In all the arts, there was great influence from Italy. The Renaissance had begun in Italy and the English were very enthusiastic about Italian culture. Many of Shakespeare's plays are located in Italy and based on Italian stories. Italy was the country of passion, murder, suicide and deep emotion.
When Shakespeare wanted to write a tragedy of love and death, he chose an Italian story. Plays such as Romeo and Juliet show that he was very interested in the theme of passionate love.
The story of Romeo and Juliet has lived until the present day. It is a star-crossed lovers. However, it is not only about love, it is also about the hate between two families (the Montagues and the Capulets). The play opens with a scene of conflict between the two families and ends with their reconciliation. The play is considered one of the greatest love stories of all time, complicated by the interplay of fate and repeated misfortune in timing. The juxtaposition of light and dark, the injection of comic moments, and the beauty of the language of love further enhance the play and make it a classic for all time.

Romeo and Juliet fell in love as soon as they saw each other. In other words, it was love at first sight. Usually, falling in love is a very happy experience that may lead to marriage and a lifetime together. However, in this case, the love of the teenage couple caused a series of problems. Mercutio, Tybalt and Paris all died. In addition Romeo and Juliet killed themselves as a result of a terrible misunderstanding.

It has all the ingredients of a drama:
-
There are 2 lovers
- It ends in death, not in marriage
- The age of the lovers

And then, look at the descriptions of the Charapters!
