American children spend more time watching television than any other activity. Many people feel that they do not have enough time to spend with their families.

They’ll learn that violence solves problems. Violence on TV promotes violent behaviour. TV also desensitizes viewers to real-life violence and distorts viewer’s perceptions of how dangerous the world really is.

They will also learn to stay inside and watch TV rather than going outside and exercising, which lead them to be the most overweight. TV promotes sedentary life and obesity and its related illnesses. They spend most of their free time watching television.

They’ll miss out on some of life’s most important lessons: interact with peers and how to compromise and share in a world full of real people.

Turning off the TV is a great way to improve the health of you and your family. The easiest way to reduce inactivity is to turn off the TV set. There is no waking activity that we do that burns fewer calories than watching TV: a body in front of thetube is a body at rest.

Less TV also opens doors to literacy. There is another crucial skill that children are not developing when they are watching TV: reading. Many children are growing up hooked on TV, with poor reading skills and little interest in books.
