VISIT TO THE OPEN CAST COAL MINE
On October the 30th, after lunch we went to Gargallo to visit the coal extraction pit.First of all we called at the ENDESA offices, the names of the ENDESA mangers, who explained to us about the mines, were Joan and Francisco.

Francisco talked to us about the kind of plants that after refilling the pit, they are going to plant: pine trees, rosemary, Thyme.
They showed us a stone that came from coal, and later Joan explained to us about where coal came from. Coal came from tree trunks and plants that got buried many years ago.

Before going into to pit, we had a look at a scale model of it.
After that we went to a view point to see the diggers extracting coal, and we also saw how the trucks from "Alfonso Company" were loaded with coal, to carry it up to Andorra coal Power Station. There was also a tractor pulling a water tank, this is used for wetting the ground when there is too much dust.

We saw the different colour layers of soil and coal.
At the view point we had photographs taken with our guides.

Later we visited a workshop were dumpers and diggers get fixed. We had another photograph taken next to a dumper to appreciate how big they are.
After that we got into the shovel of a mega excavator and had another photograph taken.
