VISIT
TO THE OLIVE OIL FACTORY
| On Monday,
December the 15th, we went on the bus to see the olive oil factory. We saw
a van which was unloading olives through a grill. |
A vacuum
cleaner separated the leaves from the olives. Then the olives went through
a washing machine to remove any soil remains. |
| From the
washing machine the olives ascended on a conveyer belt to the chute, and
from there, they passed to the scale to know how many kilos the olives weighed. |
Then the
olive oil came out of a tap and the olive residue was collected in a deposit. |
| When
there was a lot of residue in the deposit, they made a heap of it outside. |
Some of
us had a taste of the oil out of a glass. Carlos tasted the oil in a cup.
It was very good. |
| Later
we visited a warehouse where there were big deposits of oil; they could
store up to 800 litters and the biggest up to 1.200 litters. There were
12 deposit. |
A worker
filled 5 litters' carafes with oil from the deposit taps. Then he put yellow
tops on the carafes. We helped him to put labels on the carafes. |
| Juan is
putting a label. |
The 5
litter's oil carafes were put in boxes. In each box, they put four carafes.
Then they sell the oil to the members of the cooperative and people that
want to buy it. Also Andorra's olive oil is sold to Italy. |
| When we
finished the visit, the teacher was given some labels and each one of us
got a loly. And to finish, when we came out of the olive oil factory, we
had a photograph taken in front of it.Iván, Juan Tomás, Yacine,
