Biography
Carles Sabater Hernández (Barcelona,
1962-1999)
He studied at the Institut del Teatre between 1980 and 1983.
His first play was " Romeo i Julieta ".
Carles liked singing too and in 1986 he started with a group of Rock
Catalan, called SAU, with Joan Capdevila and Pep Sala.
One year later, they recorded their first record, called " No puc deixar
de fumar ".
At the same time he continued working as an actor, and he shot the
film " Gaudí ".
SAU won a prize from the government for the song " Només ho
faig per tu ".
In 1990 the group went to London, Santo Domingo and New York shot a
clip of their 3rd record.
The concert that obtains reunite more people was in 1991.
A year later, SAU recorded a record live with Luz Casal (a famous Spanish
singer), Robbie Robertson and Gerry Duffy. This record sold 62.000 copies.
In 1995, SAU made a tour in Europe, in countries as Germany and France.
He left us a total of 10 records, because in February 1999 he died
in a concert.
Pep Sala goes on playing his guitar, remembering in every concert his
companion of travel, and he affirmed that SAU died in February, but Carles
never will die.
