The same way a text can be edited with a word processor, worksheets can be made by teachers for the classroom which involve editing musical graphics, musicgrams, parts, etc. Music files (e.g. in MIDI or WAVE format), to illustrate, for example, classroom explanations with sound, can also be produced. These files can be made by editing or by real-time sequencing, and can be used in different educational situations, to increase or improve music analysis, listening, performance, etc., since they allow you to view the score or musicgram on the screen and follow it at the same time as you listen to the music. Other possibilities that technology offer the teacher include controlling CD listening with a computer equipped with multimedia peripherals (sound card and CD-ROM reader), or performing music with a MIDI controller (keyboard or other). This means that good music-computer equipment can replace or expand the possibilities offered by a simple stereo system or keyboard. With music applications on CD-ROM, the music library acquires sound and provides new ways to access information through exploration, discovery and entertainment. |
