INTRODUCTION

This project is designed to be used as an optional credit. It is aimed to students of third or four year in the secondary school.

It has 6 units and different lessons in each unit. The units are related each other. However, they can be used as independent ones.

The first one is about musical vocabulary and music theory: notes, time signature, chords, scales… always with a practical training. The second one is related to Scottish culture. Units 3 and 4 are focus on Scottish music: instruments and songs. In unit 5 some chronological Scottish songs are musically and historically analysed. And finally, the last unit is designed to be practised in every session. It is a practise about playing the guitar chords of the five Scottish songs the students will play.

The complete work has an extension of 35 hours approximately.

Teachers will find some didactic notes as they click on Teachers' guide  in order to clarify some aspects. There are four kinds of them:

1. Those that explain the activities
2. Those that expose the objectives and procedures
3. Those that give you information about where to find the audio or games on Inernet
4. Those that clarify the activity

Teachers' guide can be printed by teachers as well as all activities in Students' book. Both, Teachers' guide and Students' book are in PDF format

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

This project has been realized thanks to a Paid Study granted to me by the Departament d'Ensenyament de la Generalitat de Catalunya.

I also want to thanks Margrita Ravera, the principal teacher of Escola Oficial d'Idiomes del Prat de Llobregat, for encouraging me to take part of this project and for the complete trust she placed in me.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the authors of the web sites that I visited to develope this project. On the other hand it is needed to say that this project is a non-profit work that has been created in order to give ideas to other teachers.
