When the Atlantis shuttle orbits the Earth on the october the 18th. 1989 in the STS-34 fly, the tripulation send the spacecraft called Orbiter-Galileo, that was carrying the Probe to Jupiter. This was the beginning of the Galileo Project, a trip of six years , following an espectacular trajectory with the help of gravitation effects of Venus and The Earth , passing near the Moon and the Asteroides Gaspra and Ida.

During the trip it had the possibility to record the impacts of the Shoemaker-Levy Nine (SL-9) comet into Jupiter.

The shuttle will orbit Jupiter and its four Galilelan moons satellites, during 2 years.

The interest for Jupiter is a consequence of the trips done previously by the Pioner and Voyager, that evidenced the importance of this gaseous Planet, the biggest of the Solar System.

Thanks to the Nasa and the JPL, and specially to the information received by of Peter Garriga and Dan Carlock, Marc Siegel i Gregory R. LaBorde (KD6MSM), it´s possible that the schools interested can follow the events of the fascinating trip and do some activities.
