Learning about grammar on the net.

The search engines are also a good tool to find information about the English language on the net: verbs, nouns, capital letters, phrase formation, and so on.

Let's take an example:

    "I love gardening"
"I like going to the cinema"
    "I hate cooking"
    "I am fond of singing"
"I am very good at swimming"

You know that there is a rule related to verb endings: sometimes they must end in -ing, and some times in -ed; some specific verbs must be followed by another verb ending in -ing; after prepositions the -ing form must also be used....

Use different search engines to find out about the  "-ing form". Type "-ing form" . You will find several sites with grammar explanations, exercises, quizzes and so on. I have selected two sites for you.

Visit these two sites, go through its information and look for one rule  or explanation on each web site which can help you to understand the examples in the box above.

Select each rule and copy them in your personal file. Save the document as "ing form".

The -ing ending is commonly confused with the -ed form in participles. Read the examples below and see if you can deduce the rule.
