Where to
stay
Hotels are concentrated in three major areas: at or near the airport, along
the
waterfront
and in the Independence (historic) area, and in the business
district. Philadelphia is always crowded with visitors at the usual vacation
times, including New Year’s Eve and Day when thousands journey to the
city to see the fabulous Mummers Parade. The Pennsylvania Convention
Center can draw several thousand people at a time, year round, so it’s
wise to book hotel rooms well in advance.
Below is a sampling of hotels recommended by our correspondents.
It is not intended to be a comprehensive list. Costs should fall within
these guidelines based on the standard rate for a single room: US$ =
US$65 to US$125; $$ = US$125 to US$185; and $$$ = more than
US$185. Check for varying rates that may be extended to business
travelers, for conventions or for Saturday and Sunday.
