Pau Vila School is a quite big school in Esparreguera, a town about 40 Km from Barcelona city. The school was built in 1980 as a response to the demographic explosion of that time. It is situated in La Plana, a new district of terraced houses. At the beggining the majority of the pupils came from this area; at present the pupils from this area represent less than one third of the total number of pupils in the school. The rest of the students come from the centre of the town or from nearby districts.

The system of the school

The system of work of the school was consolidated and agreed on in a collective, progressive and stable way.
Fundamentally this system of work is constructed on the basis of working through projects alternating the purposes of personal autonomy and the consent of the group.
The team of teachers has always been very sensitive to the new waves in methodology and the innovations which through projects, pilot programmes or experiences have been introduced into the daily life of our school.
