GAP YEAR IN BARCELONA?
Are you 14 to 18 years of age? Are you intersted in learning Catalan and Spanish?
Have you ever considered helping other students improve their English? Have you ever
considered spending a year at a high school in the Barcelona area? Canet de Mar,
where our high school is located, is a coastal town 25 miles north of Barcelona.
Boasting wonderful beaches and excellent year-
We have a number of families looking forward to hosting you (for a small monthly fee) for either a semester or a full schoolyear. You will then be required to come to school as any other registered student would. You will take Spanish and Catalan classes and other subjects such as Math or Science.
We have hosted students from such countries as Germany, France, Canada, the United States, the UK and Norway. Most of them came to study and, at the end of their stay, they took their transcripts back home with them and, upon handing them, their semester or school year was validated.
There are quite a few advantages of taking a gap year:
- It is a chance to proceed with your education but doing something different; different from what you have always done.
- It will boost your character, your personality and your self confidence.
- You will improve your foreign languages to a great extent.
- It can help you in your future years at university as you will develop responsibility by having to adjust to rather different circumstances or help your peers.
- You will learn a lot and will do lots of different things with your time during this period.
- You will make lots of new (some of them, life-
long) friends. - Remember that as soon as you have a formal job it will be hard to have the chance to find the time to travel until retirement.
