Education for citizenship and human rights -
estudiants britànics, aprenent d'ell(e)s, comparant actituds, valors, reaccions,

Education, I believe, plays a vital role to create future model citizens. This is
the ultimate objective sought by the introduction of citizenship and human rights
education as a subject.Considering the fact that this subject has been taught successfully
across Europe I am inclined to think that it would really be of great benefit for
my students to have the possibility of taking such a subject. The most immediate
objective is to learn from the experiences put into practice in schools all over
Europe and, more precisely in Great Britain, and learn not only from their wide experience
regarding this subject but also from the fact that they have developed effective
ways of using the new technologies in everyday teaching. As an obvious example, England
pioneered the introduction of this subject into the curriculum and is a country where
videoconferencing has become a fundamental classroom tool. Citizenship & Human Rights
was introduced as a subject in England in the 90's. Teachers have valued this subject
positively so far. The possibility of having my students work with British students,
learning from them, comparing attitudes, values, reactions, etc. will boost the interest
in this subject. Furthermore, the possibility of making electronic field trips or
live videoconferencing sessions with such institutions or organisations as Amnesty
International or the UNO will be highly appealing and motivating for my students.
