POSITION | FUNCTION | |
Right wing | He plays in the back and makes key decisions because he distributes the ball. He will be the prominent kicker and drop goal specialist. | |
Full back | His job is to run when he receives the ball, gain territory and score tries. | |
Fly back | Like the left wing, his job is to hang around on the periphery until he gets passed the ball when he should run upfield and score a try. | |
Left wing | He feeds the ball from scrums to his fly half or backs. | |
Scrum half | A front row forward whose job is to hook the ball out of a scrum and give it to the scrum-half. | |
Hooker | He is the last line of defence. He is a very athletic player and can make 50-60 yard dashes to score tries. |
