What we need to take into account

Where to play
As teachers, we have to decide if it is ibetter to play indoors or outdoors depending on the kind of game. In these lessons, when I describe the game I have not specified if they must be played indoors or outdoors, because sometimes one game that is better to be played outdoors can be adapted for being played indoors and vice versa. So it is up to each teacher to decide where to play.
Material/equipment we need
I have specified in each lessons the material and equipment necessary to play the games.
Age of the pupils
All the games in these lessons can be played by children between 9 and 12 years old. Although some of them could also be played by younger children or older ones. Sometimes I have included some game that may seem boring at first for the age of the pupils. That's to say, it may seem that this game is for younger students, but if I include it that is because it implies some language benefit. Remember that the lessons are in English, which is not the mother tongue of the students!
Numbers of players in each game
If a specific number of players is required for the game, I include this in the description of the game. Otherwise, it does not matter how many children play the game.
Safety rules

As a teacher we have to create a safe environment for the lessons. Class control is important for safe practice, and the class should be trained in good habits of response, behaviour, dress and handling of equipment. Children should dress appropriately in suitable footwear and clothing which allows free and easy movement like tracksuits.

The basis of safety is good planning, therefore we need to consider;

- Safe teaching practices

- Game appropriate to the ability levels of the children

- Regular checking of equipment

- Suitability of children's dress- clothing neither too tight nor too loose, light gym shoes or bare feet, no jewellery…
