WARM UP

Running 8 minutes

In groups of 3, 20m from the goal. 2 balls per group.

MAIN PART:

Skills; dribble and hit.

1- Dribble and hit.

Children are divided in groups of 3. They are lined up and ready to start. They have to dribble for 10-12m, and then hit the ball from the cones (which are 8- 10 m apart of the goal) and try to score. The goal is 3 m wide. After that, they have to collect the ball and return to the side through the cones. Therefore from their way back they have to dribble (zig-zag) between a line of cones. They have to get as many goals as they can in 2 minutes. Pupils have to do this one after the other.

Adjust size of triangle for hitting ability.

PRINCIPAL PART:

Skills; pushing and stopping

2- Triangle:

Children are divided in groups of 3 and placed in the space as a triangle sharp. They have to push ( STEP- SWING – PUSH) and stop the ball for 1 minute clockwise and for another minute anticlockwise.

How many push pass can they do in 1 minute?

•  clockwise

•  anticlockwise

After this minute, pupils can repeat the exercise and try to improve their score.

They should take into account the angle of the stick. They should place top hand forward (hands apart) to stop the ball, and change the grip (hands together) for pushing.

? Were your hits on target? If not, why not? Loose wrists? Not stepping? Not follow through?

In a grid 20m x 20m

Return at the side

3- Dribble and hit to pass.

In groups of 3, children dribble and hit to pass, changing positions frequently. First, the child in the middle is the one who has the ball. They dribble it and hit to pass it to the child in his/her left or right. This one, dribbles it and hits the ball to pass it to the child in the middle who dribbles it and hits the ball to pass it to the other child.

The pass should be in front because the partner is running. Children should move their feet, especially to receive and pass on the left.

In a grid 10m x 10 m .

4- 2 v 1 – pushing or hitting

Children works in groups of 3. Two are the attackers and the other the defender. Attackers have to push or hit the ball. They get a point for 4 consecutives passes. The defender is changed frequently.

Try:

•  to fake and move into a space in the opposite direction

or

•  to draw the defender one way and cut back in font for the pass. Signal or call for the pass.

? a) When would we use a hit in the game?

When there is time and space

? b) When would we push in the game? For a quick pass when closely marked.
