Aims:

To acquire, develop and refine a wide variety of skills, like passing, receiving, throwing…

To develop strength, speed, resistance and flexibility.

To increase fitness, body awareness, body control and confidence.

To develop the understanding of skills and concepts in different games and the inter-relationship between them.

To develop co-operation with others –leading, supporting, and accepting.

To develop opposition.

To cope with competition –winning and losing, fair play, the need for rules, and tolerance of others.

To solve problems, make decisions and adapt solutions both as an individual and with others.

To know the basic rules of the three sports: rugby, hockey and cricket.

RUGBY

to get familiarized with the rugby ball.

to develop the skills required in rugby game: passing and receiving, throwing and catching, tackling and running with the ball.

To apply the mentioned skills in game situation.

To practice how to score a try.

To practice how to restart the game when a try has been scored.

To form the scrum and be able to play all the roles in it.

To practice the line-out

To use the scrum and the line out in game situation.

CRICKET

to develop the skills required in cricket game: fielding, catching, throwing, batting and bowling.

To apply the mentioned skills in game situation.

To practice catching the ball using the upward cradle or Australian method.

To practice batting and how to grip the bat.

To practice the bowling position.

HOCKEY

To get familiarized with the stick; using flat side and reversing stick.

To develop the skills required in hockey game: dribbling, pushing, tackling, shooting, hitting, passing and receiving.

To apply the mentioned skills in game situation.

To practice the change of grid in cricket; hands apart-hands together, depending on the action they are doing.

To practice the bully position.

To support their team in a triangular formation, in attacker situations.

To pass the ball to create spaces to score, in attacker situation.

 

Contents (concepts):

Collective sports:

Rugby :

•  ball familiarization.

•  Skills; passing backwards, receiving, throwing, catching, running, tackling.

•  The scrum,

•  The line-out,

•  The restart,

•  The try.

 

Cricket:

•  Skills: fielding, catching, throwing, batting and bowling.

•  Upward cradle and Australian method.

•  The grid.

•  The bowling position.

 

Hockey:

•  stick familiarization

•  Skills: dribbling, pushing, tackling, shooting, hitting, passing and receiving.

•  The bully position,

•  The grip.

Practicing of basic skills in the sports.

Improvement of strength, speed, resistance and flexibility.

Increasing of fitness, body awareness, body control and confidence.

Developing the understanding of skills and concepts in different games and the inter-relationship between them.

Developing cooperation and opposition depending on the game situation.
