What teachers need to take into account

Facilities and equipment

Lesson plans must be adapted to your own facilities and equipment. Many schools will not be able to have all the children working at the same time.

In the skill practices children can work with a partner –one working, one observing and giving feedback to their partner. Definite pointers need to be given to the observers.

In the games situation teams observing may be asked to watch e.g;

- for the types of pass used.

- which teams used the space well.

- are the defence supporting each other?

- Area

To help organization of the task, it is helpful to have courts and fields marked in grids. Cones, chalk, beanbags, ropes or others could be used as temporary markings or targets.

- Safety

Careful explanation of the use and setting out of equipment is essential for safety e.g;

~ throwing and collecting

~ using sticks and bats

~ route for return to repeat task

~ carrying, placing and weighting posts

~ jumping over canes in correct direction

~ checking landing areas.

Use of space –stop in safe area –away from walls/equipment.
