Sports, both individual and team, are an essential part of any physical education programme. They provide the child with the opportunity to develop both individual and inter-personal skills. This is achieved by offering pupils a balance of games/sports experiences. In this way the children can learn the skills, techniques, tactics, rules and principles of play in a range of sports and the inter-relationship between them. No matter what the stage of development of the child he/she must be challenged at a level at which he/she can achieve in order to maintain interest and progression. Practices, games and equipment should be adapted to suit the needs of the individual or class. (Refer to earlier lessons for ideas if necessary). By arranging partners or groups of like ability, children will get involved and they will experience success in games situations thereby increasing their confidence. |
