Aims, contents, assessment

As these units have been thought to be taught in English, it is important that teachers not only focus in the Physical Education aims and contents, but also in the English ones. I have mentioned the P.E. aims and contents in each unit. The English aims I want my pupils to achieve and the contents I want them to learn are the following:

(These units can also be used by other teachers involved in the teaching of Physical Education to primary children as long as teachers speak English. However, some teachers may have some English knowledge and they can understand the developed units, but they don not feel confident enough to teach them in English. In this case, they can teach these units in their own language and focus in the Physical Education aims and contents).

Aims:

To follow the physical education lessons, in which the communicative language is English.

To understand the different explanations that the teacher gives to pupils in English using non-verbal communication to make it easier.

To ask questions and explanations using the English language.

To understand and to use the everyday vocabulary used in the classroom as a routine.

To try to speak English all the time, with the teacher and with the other pupils.

To learn the English vocabulary related to the apparatus and materials used in the physical education classes, as well as the name of the actions and movements that pupils usually do during the lessons.
