We decided to arrange a sightseeing tour along Tortosa in order to introduce the city to our partners. We met on a sunny Saturday morning in January 2008.

We really hope you like the pictures we took!!

Our School was the starting point

The bridge on the Ebre river

The Spanish Civil War monument (1936-1939)

Built during Franco’s dictatorship, now it reminds us how cruel a war is

This is the official school of music. Our school has a special link with this school, many of our pupils study music here. It is hosted in the Oriol Palace

The main entrance of the St Marie cathedral. It mixes two styles: Gothic and Baroque

Climbing the hill to the Zuda castle (it’s also known as St Joan’s castle) . It was built by the muslins (Abderraman III) and was conquered by the catalan king Ramon Berenguer IV in 1148

Up in the castle you can get an impressive view of the city

Nowadays the castle is a luxurious hotel

The cathedral’s roof. It was refurbished some years ago

We’ve been walking almost two hours, so it’s time for a sandwich!!

Let’s go on with our tour!!

The royal buildings. The group has three beautiful renaissance buildings

The library, it’s located in the middle of ancient buildings and........

Over roman ruins!!

Teacher!!, we need a rest!!

Our lives spin around the river, we are aware that water is an important resource. We must have sustainable behavior

The town hall

The market place

It’s crowed of people on Saturday

Fresh vegetables produced in our area. The farmers produce and sell their products. Here we have all the products for a healthy diet!

Now we are in the park, this steam machine reminds us former times. This train was used by our grandparents to travel from Tortosa to the Ebre delta. Its last trip was in 1967

In the park you can visit La Lonja, it’s a middle ages building (XIV century) where people bought and sold things. It’s the main medieval market you can see in Catalonia nowadays

The river bank, you’ll always see rowers

We’ll post more pictures soon!! Main
