The Glorious Revolution was welcomed in the Protestant region of Ulster. The patriot parliament dissolved the Church of Ireland and the settlement began to disappear. James's II forces went to gather themselves into north Ulster. Soon the whole province was in they hands except the little plantation town in Derry and Enniskillen.

On 18 April 1689, King James II presented himself the walls of Derry. The gates were closed against the Jacobites, and the siege began. The Jacobites won easily, one month earlier at Dromore, and in this way, the Jacobites were defeating at Protestants. When the Jacobites were with all the power over Williamite people, (Williamite lived in the poorest way as the can) another Williamite ships came to River Foyle coast and defeated Jacobites. This war gets less important than another greater conflict: The War of the League of Augsburg. The contending forces were the French and a coalition of interests put by William of Orange. King Louis XIV was very glad to see Anglo-Dutch forces losing at Ireland, and he reinforced Jacobite troops with his own French army. In June 1690 William of Orange landed at Carrickfergus, and made his way south. On July, he met James at the Battle of the Boyne and defeated him in the most important Irish battle. James fled to Dublin, and then he sailed to France, and there was the last place that he sees.William departed too, and left the responsibility of the war in the hands of Ginkel, one of his generals. The Williamite progress was steady.

Limerick showed a great resistance but, in July 1691, began a very important siege of this town. Frecnh army didn't help at this war, because they thought that this war was unimportant. Finally, in a second siege of Limerick, the Jacobites retreated and fell down against Williamite. Then was proposed The Treaty of Limerick, and the English conquest was complete.
