Portola High School is a very small public high school with just under 300 students in grades 9-12. Although small, Portola offers a wide variety curricular and extracurricular activities. For the more serious student there are high-end math, science and literature classes that count for college credit. For the more average student, more basic classes, and for every student there are many fine art classes such as drama and concert band as well as R.O.P. classes which include culinary arts, woodshop and computer classes. Outside of the classroom there are sports and clubs to get involved in, for example student government organizes school dances, pep rallies and other activities. School as Portola consists of more than reading, writing and arithmetic.
