Diary of a Trip to Ireland

Day 1 / 16-7-99

We arrived in Ireland and we went to the hostel. This hostel is at number 61, Mounjoy street. We arrived at night. In the mornig we went walking to the bus stop.
The 31 bus took us to St. Anne's Park and we had breakfast in this park. We decided to go walking to the beach, but then we thought of renting bicycles. We saw a castle and we decided to visit it. The castle was very interesting. It has a big garden.
We stayed in the castle for two hours, and then we went out and bought sandwiches and drinks. When we finished to eat we went for a walk near the castle. There were a lot of people.
Finally we returned the bycicles and we walked to the bus stop.
The bus arrived at the hostel and we had dinner in the hostel at 8:30 p.m.

Day 2 / 17-7-99

Today, we went to the bus stop and the bus arrived in the center of Dublin. We saw a lot of shops. There were a lot of products from traditional Ireland. We saw a bar and we had breakfast there. We ate donuts and drank a glass of milk.
Next, we went to the Phoenix Park. There you can see a Wellington monument and the zoological gardens.
Later, we visited the castle. This castle is in the center of Dublin. We saw the drawing Room, the Picture Gallery and the Apolo Room. This was the most interesting for us.
Then, we had lunch in a pub. There was a friendly atmosphere.
Finally, we went to the bus stop and arrived in the hostel.
In the evening we went to the theatre.

Day 3 18-7-99

We got up at 8:00 a.m. and we packed our suitcases. We had breakfast in the hostel.
First, we went to Dublin and we leftt the suitcases in the bus stop. Secondly, we thought of buying presents for our family. For lunch, we ate a sandwich.
Next, we went to Belfast on the bus. We traveled with a bus for two hours and thirty minutes. We arrived at night and we looked for a place to sleep.

Day 4 / 19-7-99

We decided to sleep in the Belfast International hostel. Which is in number 22nd Donegall Rd.
When we got up at 8:00 a.m. we went to the hostel restaurant. In the restaurant we drank coffee. Then, we decided to visit City Hall. City Hall is in the centre of Belfast. The City Hall was built in 1898. In the banqueting Hall there are stained-glass portraits of former mayors. There is a very good painted moral.Then, we had lunch.
Next, we visited the Ulster Museum, where the Botanic Gardens are. Later, we went to the hostel and we packed the the suitcases because the following day we were going to Galway. That night we had dinner in the hostel and we went to bed at 9.00 p.m. We went to Galway at 8.00 a.m.

Day 5 / 20-7-99

We got up at 8:00a.m. We had breakfast in the hostel. we arrived in Galway at 13.30 p.m. We went to a camping site and we rented a caravan. This camping is near to Galway.
In the morning we went to see Lough Corrib. We (Diana, Noelia and Sara) saw that Blanca wasn't there, she was next to the lake. She wanted to rent a boat. We were in the boat and suddenly Blanca stood up and we began to laugh. Next, we went to Connemara National Park, and we got wet. This Park is very big and very green. We had lunch there.
In the afternoon we visited Galway city. Finally, we went back to the camping site and we had dinner in the restaurant. The food was good. We packed the suitcases because on the following day we were going to Limerick.

Day 6 / 21-7-99

We were in Limerick at the youth hostel. This hostel is at 1, Pery Square. When we got up in the morning the sky was cloudy, but we went to King John's Castle. This castle stands on the east bank of the river Shannon by Thomond Bridge, and the castle is surrounded by water. We had lunch in the castle, but the day was horrible. It started to rain.
As it was raining we went to the cinema. We saw a very amusing and interesting film. We bought pop-corn and Coca-cola; they were very expensive, but the pop-corn was good.
In the evening, we went to Limerik center and we had dinner in a restaurant. This restaurant was very cheap. Finally, we went to the hostel because on the following day we were going to Cork.

Day 7 / 22-7-99

We arrived in Cork at 10:30 a.m. and we went to Simon's house in Blarney street. Our friends and Sara's boyfriend, Simon, were there.
First, they took us to Cork public museum. In this museum there is a park that exhibits sculptures by five contemporary Irish sculptors. Our friends explained the museum history and it was an interesting visit. Then, we visited St. Fin Bar's cathedral. This cathedral was built in1986. There are eigthteen windows of stained glass.
Our friends knew of a good restaurant to have lunch. We went there and ate a typical meal from Cork. In the afternoon we visited St. Anne's Anglican church. This church has the largest clock face in Cork. It was an interesting church because we heard a carrillon. Then, we went to Simon's house. We had a shower. We had dinner at 8, and finally we went to a party.

Day 8 / 23-7-99

We got up at 9. We had breakfast in Simon's house. Next, came our friends and we went to Bantry in Fil's car . When we arrived in Bantry we went to Bantry House. Bantry house is nice and very pretty. We liked the terraced gardens, and the library. This library contains many old and rare books, and the kitchen has an old range. When we finished to see Bantry house, we took photos. We had lunch near Bantry house.
In the afternoon we went to Cork, because Gilly worked in the morning, but in the afternoon she wanted to go with us. Shelley suggested going to Mollow because there was a race. We bet on a horse. The horse was black and it had a black stain. It was a pureblood. This horse was inspired!!!! it won. We won a lot of money. Noelia wanted to work, but now she had money. We wanted to celebrate and we went to Cork.

Day 9 / 24-7-99

We got up at 10:30. We had breakfast in Simon's house. We ate milk, and eggs and toasts. First, our friends arrived at Simon's house. Secondly, we went to the Crawford Art Gallery. There we saw a collection of 19C and 20C works by Irish artists and Japanese Samurai armour and a collection of classical casts from the Vatican. This visit was boring! Then, we had lunch next to the Gallery. When we ate, our friend, Fil, was drinking a Coca-Cola when suddenly he fell. He got dirty from Coca-Cola. Then, we went to Grand Parade. Until 1.800 the street was an open channel of the River Lee.
In the night we went to the restaurant, because that night was our last night. Next, we decided to go to a discotheque and we were dancing all the night. A lot of people were drunk. Finally, we went to Simon's house at 5.30 p.m. and we slept for three hours.

Day 10 / 25-7-99

We got up at 8.30. We packed the suitcases and we had breakfast. Then, our friends saw us off and we told them that they could come to Barcelona the following summer. Next, Simon took us to the Dublin airport. We arrived in Cork at 11.00 a.m. and we were in Dublin at 3.00 p.m. The aeroplane didn't take off until 4.00 p.m. While we were waiting for the aeroplane, we had lunch. Sara cried a lot because She saw off her boyfriend.
We traveled in the aeroplane for about three hours. We slept all the time. When, we arrived in Barcelona our parents were at the airport. They were very happy because we were back. Finally, we went home.
