Our village is in Catalonia and this region takes part of Spain and the European Union. Thanks to its geographical position it is the gateway between the people of the peninsula and the rest of Europe. Catalonia is in the east of the Iberian peninsula on the Mediterranean coast. This privileged position means that Catalans enjoy a temperature and pleasant climate most of the year. The Catalonian landscape is very varied. . The Pyrenees mountains contrast strongly with the coastal regions. Although the pleasant environment quality is generalised, Catalonia is a very pleasant country to live in. The most important city in Tarragonès is Tarragona. This city stands on the shores of the Mediterranean, and contains very important Roman remains. Popular touristic resorts are Salou, Torredembarra, Port Aventura - the first theme park in the south of Europe- ... Our village, El Morell, is situated on the right of the Francolí river, where it receives the water from the Glorieta river. El Morell has " La Granja dels Frares" a popular resort. El Morell has got about 2,500 inhabitants. From the seventies a considerable chemical industry based on petrol by-products has been built up. The agriculture is important too - hazelnuts, peaches, olives and grapes -. The vegetation of El Morell is typically Mediterranean. The climate is characterized by mild temperatures throughout the year with moderate heat or cold , depending on the time of the year. El Morell has excellent transport connections with the rest of Spain and the whole of Europe. Charter flights from all parts of Europe land at the nearby airport of Reus, and Barcelona Airport is little more than an hour away by car bus or train. Both the N-240 National Highway and the A-7 motorway lead to El Morell, making it easy to get here by road. Connections with nearby towns, as well as with the main cities in Spain and the rest of Europe, make travel by bus easy also.
