ACTIVITY 2:
USING THE TOOLS
- To format the disk you need to insert it into the disk drive correctly. The teacher will tell you the order in which to carry this out.
- Ask the teacher how to run the program. Practise opening and closing the program several times.

With some computers it is sufficient to select the appropriate option in the program menu, and with others you will need to type in the command from the root directoy C:\.

- Write down a list of basic commands to listen to a piece from the program or create a new one. For example:
- Open file
- Close file
- Navigate the program
- Listen to a file
- Save a new file
- Use help
- Make alterations and save them

Using the program "Music": this is a list of basic commands to listen to a piece from the program or create your own:
- The Enter key is used to confirm some operations and commands within the program.
- The Left and right arrow keys let you move around the score. The right arrow key also adds notes to the score.
- The Up and down arrow keys let you sharpen or flatten the note.
- The + (plus) and - (minus) keys change the value of the note.
- The Space bar lets you replace the note with its equivalent rest or vice versa.
- Use the function key F2 to listen to the piece.
- The key R (for "retrieve") loads a piece from disk.
- Press the function key F1 to view all Music's commands on screen. Press Esc to return to the editing screen, or the key corresponding to the function you wish to execute.
- The Esc key is used to quit the program, to interrupt the execution of a piece or else to abandon parameter selection windows.
With these commands you can now begin to work with the program.
