ACTIVITY 6:
PIANO, FORTE

  1. Open the piece in the file GIMNOPE3. Listen to it with the PC-POLI option or ADLIB-FM. Now copy it to your notebook or print a copy. Add symbols of intensity as you think best (ff, f, mf, mp, p, pp, cresc., dim., and hairpins).

    Music Using the program "Music": listen to it with the PC-POLI or ADLIB-FM options.

    Compare your symbols of intensity with a classmate and discuss why you have chosen those symbols and not others.

    Once this exercise has been done, the teacher will get you to listen to the piece. Watch to see if your changes to the intensity coincide with those of the composer.

    Try to add the changes to the piece on computer so that it plays it on screen.

    Music Using the program "Music": does not allow gradual changes to intensity; these can be made with the voice strength parameter.

  2. Repeat the exercise, but this time with the piece SEPTIMIN.

  3. Load the piece BOLERO. Listen to the piece. Activate the program's MIDI parameters option, and change the intensity parameter for voice 1 to a lower value than the other two so that it has about half the volume. Listen to the piece again, having made this change.

    Follow the same process to modify the intensity of voice 1 to leave it as it was and voice 2 with half its value. Listen once again to the result.

    Finally, modify the intensity of voices 1 and 2 to half their value and keep that of voice 3 as it is. Listen again.

    What conclusion do you arrive at after making these changes?

    Music Using the program "Music": change the performance mode to MIDI-MPU or ADLIB-FM (key *) and listen to the piece by pressing F2. Activate the parameters option for MIDI with key M, select the Multitimbric mode and change the voice 1 strength parameter to 50. Press Esc and listen to the piece again.

    Repeat this process changing voice 1 strength to 100 and voice 2 strength to 50. Press Esc and listen to the piece.

    Finally, change voice 1 strength again to 50, voice 2 strength to 50 and voice 3 strength to 100. Press Esc and listen to it again.

  4. Now do the same again, modifying the voices, this time with the piece ENTERTAI.

  5. Load the piece you wrote in exercise 6 in the activity "Let's make melodies". Think about which symbols of intensity would give the piece more expression. Perform it on an instrument. Now add the symbols of intensity to the piece on the computer screen.
