ACTIVITY 8:
MUSICAL FRAMEWORK
- Retrieve and listen to the following pieces: AVEVERUM, XUPXUP, GAROTA, ENTERTAI, FUGA953 and PATUM. When you have listened to them answer the following questions:
- In which pieces do you hear just one melody on its own (monodic texture)?
- In which pieces do you hear more than one independent melody (polyphonic texture)?
- In which pieces do you hear a main voice with the others forming the accompaniment (harmonic texture)?
- Copy the following song on to the screen. Once you have heard it, write a 2nd and 3rd voice in the form of a canon (polyphonic texture). The ringed numbers indicate where the voices begin, in which case you will need to complete the 2nd and 3rd voices with rests.
Listen to the result. Try also to sing the song with the rest of the class.
