Talk about

I'll bring a variety of small poems and riddles. We read some in the class. They can bring their own short poem or lyric from a song. Every child choose one and write it in the sketchbook.

Warm and Cool colours, recognize them and say what feelings they express,

Sketchbook
Get information about Paul Klee.
Write the poem, sketch illustration, remind them that simple works best.
Plan how many lines will they need. Write letters to find the size of the letters forms.
Practice using warm and cool colours.
 

Doing

Give each child an A3 or A4 art paper. Using a ruler, They have to divide into the lines they need to write the poem. Then they copy the words making the letters touching the top and bottom of each line.

Outline the illustration and colour them choosing between cool and warm colours. Colour the shapes between the letters in cool or warm and the other for the illustration. Finally, use a black marker to outline the lettering and lines.



Developing the idea
  • Make a big poster, working in groups and dividing the task.
  • Choose a different artist.
  • Make an acrostic poem or sentence with student's name. Writing letters vertically and then expand.

- Do they understand that visual art express ideas that cannot be expressed by words alone?
- Are the students able to express ideas and feelings through poetry and painting?
- Do students recognize the work of Paul Klee?
