| The
Social Science Department, continuing with our Comenius
aims,organized, on December the first, two thousand and
three, a speech by Amarildo Cenci, teacher at Passo Fundo
de Rio Grande Do Sul University(Porto Alegre), who is a
member of the Federal Comitee of University teachers majoritarian
Union of Brazil and director member of the PT (Partido dos
trabalhadores de Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva), too. |

The
central subject was the present world economic structure,
the problems that are involved and the possibles alternatives,
with special interest in World Social Forums celebrated
in Porto Alegre, in 2001, 2002 i 2003. Porto Alegre has
been ever since the centre and already host city of these
world movements with the moto"Another world is possible".
Different groups are working to get an alternative development
in all strands, not only social and economic ones,
but also cultural and environmental, that
means to create a new model to restablish the
harmony between the society and the environment, based
on ecological and social criterions. Globalization, as
they understand it, in peace, culture, education, services,
social reforms, in order to reduce the unequalities
either from a local view or a worldl one.

Cenci
clearly said the objectives fixed: the FSM
of Porto Alegre:
1. the defence to get an autonomous life, worthy and
free for the people.
2. the defence of an equal society without economic, cultural,
ethnical or national dominations as an alternative of
capitalism.
3. the defence of the self government in a likely society
and of their destiny.
4. the defence of solidarity towards oppressed people.
5. the defence of a participative and direct democracy,
which means not only being able to vote but also control.
6. the defence of a respectfuldevelopment of nature and
environment.
7. the defence of incorporating globalization
of everybody in his own territory with principles of
solidarity and humanity.
Finally,
it has to be pointed out that he didn't do any reference
to the antiglobalization, but he insisted a lot
on totally different globalization.
The
conference, was for the Comenius pupils and humanistic
and economy batxillerat, it was very succesful and teenagers
showed great enthusiasm to be in contact with this alternative
movement.
