Around the island

The island of Ireland is low in the middle and high on the outside.
Ireland is full of beautiful laikes and rivers. The Shannon is
its longest river. It is 385 km. long. Other important

Much of the north and west of Ireland is very
beautiful.

The middle and east of Ireland are very different is a
farming country, and Irish milk and meat is some of
the best in the world.

Physical Landscape

The higher mountains in Ireland areErrigal ( 752 m. ) in Donegal and Croagh Patrick (785 m.) in Mayo the twelve Bens in Galway.

The Other mountains are penetrated by deep glacially modified valleys of which the best known is Glendalogh in Country Wicklaw.
The famous Upper Lake of Killarney nestles in the eastern slopes of this range.
The valleys separate the western extension of these mountains.
The heart of country is a limestone.
It also extends westward to reach the Atlantic Ocean along the Shannon Estuary, in Galway Bay.

Rivers

Climate

Agriculture and Fishing


The landscape is dominated by forms and enclosed fields. They are used for cattle and sheep. The land belongs to the farmers who work it this is since the nineteenth century.
There aren't huge farms, they are small and medium size.
Although the agriculture has decreased, it is still the main source of the Ireland economy.
The agriculture is predominated by pastoral farming and with some arable crops.

The fish production has fluctuated since 1960s.

 

  People

Ireland has always had a lot of people moving across the country towards Europe. Each group of immigrants has given something to the Ireland culture.

The population was 8.2 million in 1841 and most of them lived in rural areas and after the famine in 1846 the population started to decrease and in 1930 it was only half.
