  Materials, materials, materials...

So far you've seen many different materials. We can divide them in four main categories: vegetable, mineral, animal and synthetic. Can you write three materials belonging to the first one, that is, three vegetable materials? Cotton|linen|wood|straw, linen|wood|straw|cotton, and wood|straw|cotton|linen.
Some animals provide us with the raw material to make different types of fabric. Sheep give us wool, silk is produced by a larva. We also use the skin of cows, sheep, deer and other species like these to make leather. Some animals, such as elephants, provide us with their tusks to make objects of ivory, but fortunately, today elephants are protected. Mineral materials are used to make statues, such as Michelangelo's David, which is made of marble, but many sculptures are made of stone|iron|bronze|clay, iron|bronze|clay|stone, bronze|clay|stone|iron among other materials.
But today many fabrics and materials are synthetic, which means, produced artificially.

  Statues

The Statue of Liberty, who lives in New York, is covered with a copper skin in the shape of a toga, but the Little Mermaid, who lives by the sea in Copenhagen is naked. She is made of bronze . Do you remember what Dali's Newton sculpture in Singapore is made of? It is made of bronze, too. And, what are the names of two other statues that have some bronze lions or eight bronze bas-reliefs at their base? They are Nelson and Columbus|Christopher Columbus. Now, what about David and Niké? They are made of white marble, which, as you may know, it comes in many different colours. We have one big statue left, the Sphynx near Cairo. It is made of limestone|stone.
