226 BCE. Treaty of the Ebro. Border between Rome and Carthage, situated on the river Ebro.
218 BCE. The Romans land for the first time in the peninsula, in Empuries.
209 BCE. Carthagena is taken by the Romans. Revolt of the Ilergets.
205 BCE. Defeat of the Ilergets and death of their leaders Indibil and Mandoni, insurgents against Rome.
197 BCE. First administrative partition of the Iberian Peninsula by the Romans into Ulterior and Citerior. Major rebellion by the natives.
195 BCE. The consul Marc Porci Cato put down the Iberian tribes to the North of the Ebro, from Empuries southwards. End of Iberian opposition to the Romans.
180-179 BCE. Pacts between native peoples and Romans. Beginning of Romanization of the cities and abandonment of Iberian villages, which are substituted by villae and Roman cities.
154-133 BCE. Celtiberian wars.
147-139 BCE. . Revolt of Viriat.
