- Acculturation:
- process of gradual cultural change in a society due to contact with another, which is completely or partially different.
- Acropolis:
- from the Greek, “high city or citadel”, the highest part of a city, where the temples were.
- Embossed:
- decoration of motifs, made by hammering on a metallic plate so the design projects out on the opposite side.
- Necropolis:
- from the Greek, “city of the dead” or cemetery.
- Patera:
- Latin word meaning plate. Used in Latin terminology because of its generic character.
- Surplus:
- excess of foods, raw material or manufactured products enabling theexchange for other products in short supply.
- Syncretism:
- the fusion and mixture of different religious or philosophical ideologies.
- Toga:
- Roman tunic. A sort of overcoat for men
