Wilt thou be gone? It is not yet near
day:
It was the nightingale, and not the lark,
That pierced the fearful hollow of thine ear;
Nightly she sings on yon pomegranate-tree:
Believe me, love, it was the nightingale.

ROMEO
Era l'alosa, que anuncia l'alba,
no el rossinyol. No veus, amor, la llum cruel de l'orient
engalanant els núvols?
S'han apagat els llumenets nocturns i ja traspunta l'alba
als cims boirosos.
He d'anar-me'n i viure, o quedar-me i morir.
It was the lark, the herald of the morn,
No nightingale: look, love, what envious streaks
Do lace the severing clouds in yonder east:
Night's candles are burnt out, and jocund day
Stands tiptoe on the misty mountain tops.
I must be gone and live, or stay and die. |

I have more care to stay than will to go:

Sí que ho és, sí que ho és, Afanya't,
vés!
sí que és l'alosa, la que desafina
amb aquest cant agut i dissonant.
Diu que l'alosa canta dolçament;
aquesta, en canvi, no perquè ens separa.
Diu que l'alosa i el gripau es van canviar els ulls.
Ah, tan de bo canviessin de veu,
perquè separa els teus braços dels meus
i et fa marxar quan sona el corn del dia.
Vés-te'n; cada moment es fa més clar.

It is the lark that sings so out of tune,
Straining harsh discords and unpleasing sharps.
Some say the lark makes sweet division;

Art thou gone so? love, lord, ay, husband, friend!
I must hear from thee every day in the hour,
For in a minute there are many days:
O, by this count I shall be much in years
Ere I again behold my Romeo!
Així, te'n vas? Amor, senyor,
espòs i amic,
he de saber de tu a cada hora del dia,
i hi ha tants dies en un sol minut!
Amb aquests comptes em faré molt vella,
