3. Draw a textual cardiogram of the story you have read about Unmesh and Sarah. Do this on a separate piece of paper.

Why do this?
It will help you see the rhythm of the story with its emotional peaks and its moments of tension.
Analysing this story will provide a model for your future stories.

4. Writing:
The story you read is written in the third person. Imagine that you are either Unmesh or Sarah and take his/her point of view. You find yourself in the following situation:

Some time ago you and your husband/wife decided to go on holidays abroad but, at the last minute, she/he was not able to go with you because of sudden extra work in his/her company. You left by yourself and you happened to meet this other person you had an affair with.
Now you would like to write a letter home. Explain what happened that evening using the story as a model but...

Change it to the first person.
Change the story as needed to meet your needs.
Develop your point of view and express your own feelings.

You are given the introductory paragraphs and the end. Write 3 paragraphs in-between.

Why altering?
It makes you think closely about the language of the text.
It makes you manipulate a model to produce creative writing of his own.
It helps you create a narrative text from a model.

Dear ______________,

This is just a short note to let you know that I am well and I hope you are, too.
Unfortunately something unpleasant happened to me but now it is over. Anyway, here's how it happened.

In fact, as I said, there's nothing to worry about because I am perfectly well.
How are you?

Write back.

Love,
