3. Write an argumentative text yourself. Choose first whether you want to write a neutral or a persuasive text. You may write about The Elgin Marbles (remember you can get many more ideas from the text "The sad story of the Parthenon") or about other controversial issues such as Gibraltar or The Falklands, and so on.

For your writing use the following tips:


Build 4 or 5 paragraphs. You may inspire yourself from the models but you should vary the content and expand the ideas.
Analyse carefully the words/phrases in blue and include them in your writing. Those connectors/expressions will help you link your sentences so that the meaning comes across more clearly.
Hand it in to your teacher/tutor for suggestions.

Why do this? You will get a chance to improve your argumentative abilities and to distinguish between neutral and persuasive writings. Remember that in persuasive writing it is sometimes necessary to use powerful adjectives.
