THE DOÑANA PARK

More than a thousand years ago Doñana was part of the sea. Now it is a nature reserve where there are many animals of different kinds and many of them are in danger of extinction.

It was created in 1964 and it is placed in the province of Huelva, near Seville .. in the municipal term of Almonte, north of the mouth of river Guadalquivir.

Doñana is a territory of more than 280.000 hectares. Millions of migratory birds go to this place where the do not lack food, thanks to the Guadalquivir river.

Doñana's name comes from the youngest daughter of the princess of Eboli. A powerful woman during the reign of Philip II, in XVI century Spain. Her name was “Doña” (The Spanish for Lady) Ana. She inherited it.
